Lara Trump Explains Viral Funeral Moment: ‘Get Over Yourselves’
Lara Trump has explained why she looked at her Apple Watch during the service for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) at Washington National Cathedral last month, a moment that went viral online.
In a video posted on social media on Wednesday, Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law said that during the two-hour service, she received “several” calls from staff at the New York summer camp her two children were attending.

“Any parent knows that that is not good. That means there’s a problem. That means they may need to reach me. That means someone is hurt or something,” said Lara Trump, who is married to the president’s second son, Eric Trump.
“So, I did what any parent would do, and I tried to very discreetly inquire as to what was going on so that I could at least know that I had the ability to stay seated in the funeral,” she added.

Lara Trump hit back at how the moment was portrayed by some critics.
“But the only thing you’ll see is ‘Lara Trump checks her watch,’ like I’m checking the time. Get over yourselves,” she said. “And this just shows you, by the way, how manipulated so much of what you see out there truly is.”
“The only mistake anybody made in our family, and of course we’ll always make mistakes for all the lunatics out there, was that I happened to glance down and try to like figure out what’s going on with my kids,” she added.
Trump said there had been a “situation” at the camp but that both children were fine, “hence the need to contact me in the middle of this.” She said she had tried to be “as discreet as possible.”
