On May 10. he posted. “Happy Birthday to our crazy Lennix. ” continuing: “You keep us laughing. keep us on our toes. and somehow make every day brighter at the same time. I’m lucky to do life with you girls. Love you all more than you know!!”.

Busch last competed on May 17 at the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover International Speedway. Four days earlier, he also raced in the truck series, where he won the EcoSave 200. After his final NASCAR race. By May 21, those lines took on a sharper edge. NASCAR confirmed that Busch died at age 41 on May 21. 2026. after being hospitalized with a “severe illness.” In a statement shared via X. NASCAR said: “We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch. a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport’s greatest and fiercest drivers. ” adding. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family. Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.”.

The driver’s family also spoke on social media that day, posting that Busch was hospitalized for the illness. “Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization,” the statement read. It said Busch was “currently undergoing treatment” and would “not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.” The family asked for “understanding and privacy as our family navigates this situation.”.

Busch was scheduled to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24. and his team—Richard Childress Racing—announced that Austin Hill would take his place. RCR said in a statement shared via X that “Kyle Busch’s health is our upmost priority and he and his family have the full resources of RCR behind them. ” and that “Kyle is an integral part of our organization” as they wished him “a safe and speedy recovery.” The team added: “His No. 8 Chevrolet will be ready and waiting for him. ” and expressed gratitude to Austin Hill “for stepping in to drive the No. 8 Chevrolet this weekend. ” asking fans to keep Kyle and the Busch family in their prayers and to respect the family’s privacy.

  2. Wait so he posted birthday stuff May 18 and then he’s dead May 21? That’s just insane. I don’t even follow NASCAR like that but man. Phones showing family moments after the race sounds creepy sad though.

  3. I saw a headline about Kyle Busch being in the hospital and I assumed it was like a DUI or something, idk why my brain went there. But then it’s all about birthdays and racing at Dover?? Honestly makes no sense to me. Cars are fast till they aren’t I guess.

  4. “You never know when the last one is” like okay but also isn’t that kind of obvious for anyone in racing? People act shocked every time. The part about the All-Star Race and the phone showing family… that’s the kind of thing that goes viral and then everyone forgets in a day. Sad either way, just don’t get how it went from EcoSave 200 win to nothing. RIP.
