Working with Kristen Stewart professionally wasn’t an easy decision for her wife, Dylan Meyer. The American screenwriter has opened up about working with Stewart on their upcoming movie, The Wrong Girls.
Stewart and her wife attended the premiere of their upcoming movie on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Speaking about the collaboration in an interview with Variety, Meyer revealed her initial hesitation to work with Stewart professionally. The American screenwriter said, “In the beginning, of course. When you really value your relationship, the idea of doing anything to jeopardize it seems terrifying and not worth it.”
Meyer went on to share that Stewart ultimately convinced her to overcome her reluctance. “And she was always like, ‘There’s no other path forward for us. We’re both artists. If we don’t make art together, what are we doing?’” the screenwriter added.
Stewart had previously teased this collaboration with her wife in a 2023 interview with Interview Magazine. “Me and Dylan are writing a movie,” the Twilight star shared at the time. The actress had then described The Wrong Girls as “a stoner girl comedy,” adding, “It’s really f***ing stupid. I think you’ll like it.”

Dylan Meyer makes her directorial debut in the upcoming R-rated stoner comedy film, which she also wrote. The movie follows two codependent best friends who are struggling to make ends meet and spend their days getting high. Their mundane life soon takes a bizarre turn after a case of mistaken identity lands them in utter chaos.
The film stars Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat as Frankie (also known as Frances) and Molly, respectively. The ensemble cast also features LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, Tony Hale, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Geena Davis, Kate McKinnon, Thomas Nicholson, Thor Knai, and more. Stewart and Meyer also serve as producers on the film.
The Wrong Girls arrives in theaters on August 14, 2026.
