Kobo plugs in StoryGraph for automatic reading sync

Kobo integrates – Rakuten Kobo is partnering with StoryGraph to bring automatic syncing for current reads, reading progress, finished books, and star ratings. The integration starts in June and supports all Kobo account-based content, including both eBooks and audiobooks.
Rakuten Kobo users who have relied on manual check-ins for their reading trackers won’t have to keep doing it for much longer. Starting in June, Kobo will integrate with StoryGraph, automatically syncing what readers are doing with their books—without the usual workarounds.
The change is simple in description but meaningful in everyday use. Recently opened books will automatically show up on users’ “Currently Reading” shelves in StoryGraph. Reading progress percentages will sync between the Kobo and StoryGraph platforms. so the score you see on one side won’t fall out of step with the other. When a title is finished on Kobo, StoryGraph will mark it as “Read,” and star ratings will sync as well.
Kobo also says the integration will support all Kobo account-based content, including both eBooks and audiobooks. Even with automatic tracking, users can still manually edit entries within StoryGraph if they want more nuanced control.
For many Kobo readers, this has been a long-requested quality-of-life upgrade. Automatic tracking is widely viewed as one of Kindle’s quieter ecosystem advantages. and Kobo users have often been left managing third-party reading trackers manually or using clunky workarounds. Now, that gap is narrowing.
StoryGraph has built its reputation on analytics and personalized recommendations. plus community-style features such as reading streaks. challenges. and book clubs. With automatic syncing coming to Kobo. those tools should feel less like a separate place to log reading—and more like an extension of what happens on the device.

So basically it’ll stop the tracking work? About time.
I don’t even trust “automatic syncing” anymore. Like what if it messes up my percent and then StoryGraph be acting like I read 20% when I didn’t? Also June??? that’s forever lol.
Wait, does this mean my star ratings will change on StoryGraph automatically from Kobo? I thought you had to manually rate. And if I edit it later, will it overwrite my changes or just let me fix it? Confusing. I just want my shelves to not look wrong.
Kindle has been doing the silent tracking thing forever right, so Kobo is catching up… but I swear these apps always go down eventually. Next thing you know your “Currently Reading” turns into like “Probably Read” and you gotta redo it all. I’m not saying it won’t be useful, just seems like another place to connect your account.
