Shamet is returning to the New York Knicks on a four-year deal worth $24 million, a person with knowledge of the details said Monday. The agreement had not yet been announced, so the person spoke on condition of anonymity.
For the Knicks, Shamet’s value wasn’t abstract. He arrived after signing late last offseason and quickly became a trusted part of coach Mike Brown’s rotation. His role widened when the games tightened, and he showed up at the exact moment New York needed a spark.
In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against Cleveland. Shamet drilled the tying 3-pointer when the Knicks rallied from a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
