According to a royal editor, the public letter from His Majesty and Buckingham Palace clarifying Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s status within the monarchy was a small gesture in favor of the Prince of Wales.

During an episode of “A Right Royal Podcast,” expert Emily Nash pointed out that Charles’ clarification to the world was to help William.
“Because he’s the heir, it’s relevant to the rest of his reign as well,” she said via HELLO!.
“I think it does show loyalty to William and the fact that William and Kate Middleton and other members, senior working royals, are going all over the country doing their duties,” the reporter noted.
Charles’ letter to Harry and Meghan was about ‘duty and responsibility’
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left their duties with The Firm, Nash emphasized that they are still a part of the royal family’s legacy.
“They’ve got all the responsibility. There’s no going off and signing a deal with Netflix,” she noted.
“There’s no writing a memoir for $100 million. This is all about duty and responsibility to the country, and I think it’s important to make that clear,” the commentator added.
Charles and Buckingham Palace issue a statement on Harry and Meghan’s standing within the institution
Following Harry and Meghan’s relocation to the U.K., the former Prince of Wales and the institution made it clear they will not be working members of the family.
“It is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working members of the royal family,” the message from Charles and the institution said, as read on NBC News.
“This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working royal family and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected,” they said.
William is ‘still very angry’ with Prince Harry and ‘feels like everyone suddenly has amnesia’
Although the Spare author and the Suits star are back in Britain, the future king of England is reportedly continuing to keep his distance.
