Kim Kardashian brushes off Brundle at Monaco grid

Martin Brundle told a bodyguard: ‘Don’t push me, mate’ as he tried but ultimately failed to grab a quick word with Kim Kardashian during his Monaco Grand Prix grid walk. The global icon made her first appearance on the grid since beginning a relationship with Lewis Hamilton , having been seen on Saturday watching the action from the balcony overlooking the Ferrari garage. By Sunday she had made her way down to the grid alongside numerous other celebrity guests. But Sky Sports pundit Brundle got

short shrift from the reality TV star when he approached her during his pre-race grid walk segment, hoping to grab a brief interview. “Kim, Martin Brundle from Sky F1 , how are you today?” he asked politely. Kardashian glanced towards him and flashed a smile, before quickly turning away, evidently unwilling to engage. Brundle held out his microphone in an attempt to encourage a response from her, but to no avail. Kardashian then leant towards one of her bodyguards, who whispered something in her ear.

At that point, off camera, Brundle cautioned one of the other security personnel surrounding Kim and her sister Khloe: “No, you don’t need to push me mate.” Brundle made one last effort to extract a comment from the sisters, but once again had no joy. It proved an exceptionally busy grid walk, as is traditional in Monaco. The confined start-finish straight is famously tight at the best of times, while the sheer prestige of this race consistently attracts a substantial array of celebrities, and this

year was no different. It momentarily seemed as though Brundle was facing an instant rejection on his opening encounter of the grid walk, as he approached Hollywood star Cynthia Erivo. The Wicked actress was posing for photographs in front of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull car when Brundle struck up a conversation, initially receiving a cool response as Erivo made plain she wasn’t conducting interviews, reports the Mirror . Her demeanour softened slightly, however, as she did answer a couple of questions about being in Monaco

and experiencing the occasion. Before Brundle could probe any further, he was moved along by a Red Bull photographer who maintained the Sky Sports crew were blocking his shot. Brundle did come up short, though, of getting anywhere near Premier League star Morgan Gibbs-White. He walked straight past Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones in an attempt to reach the Nottingham Forest forward, who was also positioned in front of Verstappen’s car at the time. He was unable to get close enough to exchange words with Gibbs-White,

who was taking in the Monaco atmosphere having missed out on Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup. Brundle did find some consolation, though, in the form of a conversation with the Crown Prince of Bahrain. Mumtalakat, the Bahraini sovereign wealth fund, maintains a partial stake in the McLaren F1 team, and this marks a significant weekend for the outfit as they commemorate 1,000 appearances in Formula 1.
