Kim Delaney settles hit-and-run case days before court

“NYPD Blue” star Kim Delaney has settled a hit-and-run lawsuit brought by motorcyclist Dzhamal Badalov, court documents show. The settlement was reached May 19, with an unconditional dismissal request due within 45 days and a final status conference scheduled

Kim Delaney’s legal fight over a 2022 hit-and-run allegation is moving into its final stretch.

Court documents obtained for the case show the “NYPD Blue” actress settled this week with Dzhamal Badalov, the man who says she slammed her car into his motorcycle and sent him flying. Badalov alleges the crash happened when he was stopped at a red light and Delaney rammed into him.

In his account, Badalov claims she initially tried to drive off but was stopped by bystanders. He says Delaney then got on the phone with someone who told her to flee, and that’s when she took off for real.

Badalov further alleges Delaney appeared intoxicated, describing what he says witnesses saw: her driving erratically and swerving in and out of lanes.

Delaney, for her part, has denied being drunk. Earlier this year, she told a judge that she “dipped” because her “perceived celebrity status” put her in danger.

The court paperwork also lays out the timeline for closing the case. The settlement is described as unconditional. meaning a request for dismissal must be filed within 45 days of the May 19 settlement for everything to be officially concluded. Delaney is also scheduled for a final status conference on June 2.

The sequence in the filings makes the stakes clear: Badalov’s allegations center on what he says happened after impact—including a reported phone call and a decision to flee—while Delaney’s explanation rests on fear tied to her public profile. Now. with the settlement in place and the procedural deadline approaching. the case is poised to end on paperwork rather than testimony.

  1. So she just… settled? That doesn’t mean she was innocent or guilty, just means money talks.

  2. I swear every celebrity “settles” and then it’s like poof, gone. If she was drunk that’s wild. Also the whole “celebrity status” thing… like okay so you run because people might recognize you?

  3. Wait so she hit him at a red light and then got on the phone?? Who tells someone to flee after a crash? That seems fake to me honestly. Or maybe the motorcyclist just wanted a payout, idk.

  4. The article keeps saying “unconditional dismissal” like that’s normal?? I don’t really get the 45 days part, but it sounds like she’s off the hook before court. June 2 status conference means nothing if they already settled. Also “dipped” because of perceived celebrity status—sounds like an excuse, not a defense.
