The match-point miss happened after Khachanov had been up 5-4, 40-30. Trungelliti responded by breaking back as the fourth set escalated into a tiebreak.

That breaker didn’t decide itself early. It was deadlocked at 4-all when Khachanov sprinted down an outrageous Trungelliti angled dropper. He shoveled a reply down the line. and that retrieval shifted the momentum for good. pushing him over the line into the Roland Garros third round for the eighth time in 10 appearances.

The next test is already set. The 13th-seeded Khachanov will face lucky loser Jesper de Jong for a fourth-round spot. De Jong’s path to this match has been rapid: he lost to Columbia all-American Michael Zheng in the final round of qualifying. then backed up his return with consecutive main-draw wins over Stan Wawrinka and Federico Cina.

  2. Dude the article says the ball sailed into the stadium… like outside the court? That seems like a misread by whoever wrote it. But either way, Court Suzanne Lenglen sounds like it makes people go crazy.

  3. I swear tennis matches flip faster than football. He shanked it, then Trungelliti breaks back, then tiebreak at 4-all, and somehow he still wins 7-6 like twice? Also ‘lucky loser Jesper de Jong’ sounds like he just lucked into a bracket spot, not earned it lol.
