The Vikings have not given an official update on the nature of the injury that caused linebacker/safety Jamal Adams to be carted off in the first half of Saturday’s game against the Giants, but it does not sound like he’s going to be making it back on the field anytime soon.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell was asked about Adams’s condition during a halftime interview on the Vikings’ broadcast of the game.
“Jamal has done such an unbelievable job coming here,” O’Connell said. “You feel his passion every single day. . . . You’re just crushed for him, the role he was kind of paving for himself and then just having a personality, experience, toughness that he brought in such a short amount of time. We’re going to miss him. We’re going to need to see some guys here step up. But what I told Jamal is our organization, we’ve got our arms wrapped around him. And he’s a part of this thing. But you absolutely hate to see that.”
Adams went down without being contacted while in pass coverage on a play that ended with Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart finding wide receiver Malachi Fields for a touchdown.
