Judge sets $1m bond for Terrion Arnold, lets him play

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was granted $1 million bond in Florida after a judge found probable cause on armed robbery and kidnapping allegations. The bond includes strict conditions—while also allowing him to practice and play for the Lions.

By the time Terrion Arnold walked into the next stage of his case, it was clear the fight wouldn’t be confined to a courtroom.

On June 29. a Florida judge set Arnold’s bond at $1 million and found probable cause for the Detroit Lions cornerback to face charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. The decision came after investigators said Arnold was tied to an alleged plot that involved weapons. detention and robbery—claims Arnold has denied.

The bond doesn’t come with freedom. Arnold was barred from contacting the six co-defendants or the witness in the case. He was also given 48 hours to surrender his passport. The court ordered him to be confined to his residence. with key exceptions: he can leave to practice or play for the Lions. and he can attend legal appointments and court-related appearances.

Prosecutors asked that Arnold be fitted with an ankle monitor. His attorneys argued he would be unable to play football with the device on.

Arnold has been in custody since last Wednesday after he turned himself in to authorities.

The allegations trace back to February. Investigators said more than $250. 000 worth of personal property—belonging to Arnold and others—was reported stolen from an AirBnB rental about 20 miles west of Tampa on February 1. Three days later. authorities claim three men in their late teens were held at gunpoint at a Tampa apartment. then battered. pistol-whipped and robbed.

Investigators say Arnold was the “primary conspirator” in that attack. Arnold has denied his involvement, with his management agency saying so.

The sequence places football—and the strict conditions that come with it—directly against the weight of the charges. Arnold’s bond now keeps him available to practice and play, while still forcing his movements under court control as the case proceeds.
