Juan Soto draws loud boos in return to Yankee Stadium

Yankees fans delivered loud boos to Juan Soto on Friday, who represented their team before leaving them for the Mets in the 2024 offseason.
Yankees fans had no love lost or found following Juan Soto’s return to their stadium during their series opener against the Mets on Friday night.
Soto is going through the ninth year of his career in the majors, his second with the Mets. He spent one year with the Yankees during the 2024 campaign, where he shined as one of their top players.
However, he surprised many when he chose to leave the Yankees in favor of the Mets that offseason. That surely irked fans, considering he departed for their rivals next door.
Soto made his return to Yankee Stadium as the Mets began their three-game set against their rivals this weekend. Safe to say that Yankees fans made him hear it once he stepped up to the plate.

How Yankees played against Juan Soto, Mets
The New York derby was entertaining as both teams exchanged blows but the Yankees came out on top 6-4 over Juan Soto and the Mets.
The hosts set the tone in the first two innings, taking a 4-1 lead over the Mets. Even though the visitors tried to fight back with three runs in the last three frames, the Yankees did enough to fend off their rivals to start the series with a win at home.
Carlos Rodon started on the mound as he lasted for 6.1 innings and earned the win. He struck out eight batters while conceding just three hits and one earned run. Meanwhile, David Bednar obtained the save for his 33rd of the season.
The Yankees improved to an 85-62 record on the season, sitting at second place in the AL East Division standings. They are above the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays while trailing the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Yankees will look forward to Game 2 of their series against the Mets. That contest will take place on Sept. 12 at 1:35 p.m. ET.
