Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe Reunite for ‘Trust the Man’

Jonathan Groff is set to join Daniel Radcliffe in ‘Trust the Man,’ a Vietnam war thriller directed by Will Graham. The movie begins production this summer in New Jersey, reuniting the pair after their 2024 Tony-winning Broadway run in ‘Merrily We Roll Along.’

Jonathan Groff is stepping back into Daniel Radcliffe’s orbit for their next project—this time on screen, not stage.

Groff is the latest addition to the cast of Trust the Man. a Vietnam war thriller film that also stars Radcliffe. The story is built around a decorated soldier with a mysterious past. and it follows an ambitious Army Intelligence officer assigned to investigate him. As surveillance and interrogation deepen, the line between loyalty and obsession blurs, pulling both men into a dangerous, uncontrollable connection.

Radcliffe was attached to the project for over a year before Groff’s casting was announced. Lucas Hedges had previously been attached, but exited due to scheduling issues.

Production is set to begin this summer in New Jersey.

Their on-screen reunion carries extra weight because Groff and Radcliffe have already shared a stage moment that audiences and theater voters couldn’t ignore. They previously worked together on the Broadway musical revival of Merrily We Roll Along. which earned the 2024 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Groff won Best Actor, while Radcliffe took Best Featured Actor.

Groff has stayed busy on Broadway as well, starring in Just In Time, which earned him another Best Actor in a Musical nomination at the 2025 Tonys.

Radcliffe, meanwhile, wrapped a run in the one-person show Every Brilliant Thing. He’s now nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play at the upcoming 2026 Tony Awards for that work, with the ceremony taking place this coming Sunday, June 7.
