Jon Bon Jovi says he’s fully recovered

Jon Bon Jovi says he’s now fully recovered after years of retraining his voice following vocal cord surgery. He credits his bandmates’ support and calls his return to touring “a rebirth,” with the “Forever Tour” set to begin July 7.
Jon Bon Jovi didn’t just return to the stage in his head—he had to rebuild his voice in the years between shows.
Speaking to People, the rock icon shared that he is now “fully recovered” after a serious vocal cord issue that once threatened his ability to perform live. He said the road back took longer than he expected, but he insisted it “had to be right,” adding, “We never lost faith.”
The vocal cord problem came to light when his doctor discovered that one of his vocal cords was deteriorating. Bon Jovi said he had no habits that typically lead to that kind of damage. explaining. “I’d often joked and said the only thing that’s ever been up my nose was my finger. I never did anything to hurt the cords; I didn’t have any excesses. I’m a trained vocalist. I’ve practiced the craft. So when a doctor had to explain to me that one of the cords was literally atrophying, it was confusing.”.
He underwent surgery to fix a damaged vocal cord four years ago. After that. he spent years retraining his voice with professional guidance. supported by his bandmates as he healed following his band’s 2022 tour. He described that support as unwavering, saying, “They never doubted [me] and never looked for work or decided to retire. The sacrifices that each one of them have made to be there for me is on a whole ‘nother level. ” referring to his six bandmates: David Bryan. Everett Bradley. Hugh McDonald. John Shanks. Tico Torres and Phil X.
As he reflected on what the health scare changed for him. Bon Jovi described a shift in how he lives—less urgency. more presence. “I used to always have my nose to the grindstone. always put my head down. thinking of tomorrow. never living in the today. This forced me to not only live in the today but be appreciative for every today that’s still here.”.
Then he pointed to the small moments that made the difference. “So the simple joys of waking up with my granddaughter today, playing tennis with some guys that I’ve never met before, staring at the little puffy cloud in the sky. … This is it. This is as real as it gets. That’s joy,” he continued.
With his voice restored, Bon Jovi is preparing to return to touring with his band on July 7. He called the comeback “rebirth,” and said the band’s upcoming “Forever Tour” will launch with a residency in New York City before heading to international venues in England and Ireland.
Even as the tour plans come into focus. family milestones are part of the same chapter he’s now stepping into. His middle son. Jake Bongiovi. adopted a baby girl with his wife. actress Millie Bobby Brown. in 2025—the same year the rock star’s oldest son. Jesse Bongiovi. welcomed his first child (also a baby girl) with his own wife.

Glad he’s back. Those vocal cords issues are no joke.
Wait so he had surgery like 4 years ago and just now is “fully recovered”? I thought they were already touring lol. Forever Tour July 7—hope it’s actually gonna happen this time.
So his doctor found one cord was “deteriorating” and he says he didn’t do anything? That’s kinda confusing to me because everyone says singers ruin their voice. Like maybe it was from screaming too hard on stage? Either way, good for him I guess.
Forever Tour July 7… I saw a clip where he was like “rebirth” and I got emotional?? But also why is it taking years to fix a vocal cord? I’m not saying it’s fake or anything, I just don’t get how you can be fine then suddenly atrophying. Also he jokes about the finger up the nose?? idk man, but I’m rooting for him.
