John Leguizamo, Judy Reyes Among Honorees at Critics Choice Celebración

John Leguizamo, Oscar Nuñez and TK are among the honorees for the 6th annual Celebración of Cinema & Television, which will take place Oct. 2 in Beverly Hills. The event recognizes on- and off-screen achievement in the Latino and Hispanic entertainment community.

Leguizamo will receive the Career Achievement Award “in recognition of his more than four decades of groundbreaking work across film, television, comedy, and theater,” the release read. The Emmy winner and four-time Tony Award nominee can be seen in Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster “The Odyssey.”

Judy Reyes will receive the Trailblazer Award “in recognition of her outstanding body of work across film, television, and theater,” according to the press release. She currently stars in ABC’s “High Potential” and ABC/Hulu’s “Scrubs.” Oscar Nuñez will accept the Vanguard Award. The Emmy winner broke out as Oscar Martinez in NBC’s “The Office,” the same character he plays in Peacock’s “The Paper.”

“To honor this remarkable class of Latino and Hispanic artists is nothing short of a gift, especially during a time that has been difficult for our communities,” Critics Choice Association Member and Co-Programmer Clayton Davis said in a statement. “Latino and Hispanic storytellers keep creating from a place of joy and defiance, turning our histories and culture into art that moves the culture forward. Their work builds a larger, more inclusive tent for everyone to be invited to join.”

Javier Calvo & Javier Ambrossi (“Los Javis”), Director Award (for Netflix’s “La Bola Negra”)

James Ortiz, Innovator Award (for “Project Hail Mary”)

Aimee Carrero, Supporting Actress Award – Series (for Apple TV’s “Your Friends & Neighbors”)

Beth de Araújo, Breakthrough Director Award (for “Josephine”)

Inde Navarrette, Breakthrough Actress Award – Film (for “Obsession”)

Laysla De Oliveira, Breakthrough Actress Award – Series (for Paramount+’s Lioness) 

Davis will host the celebration with CCA member Amanda Salas.
