Joe Rogan slams Greg Bovino’s trench coat choice

On the June 3 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan criticized former Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Greg Bovino’s long trench coat as “reminiscent” of Nazi Germany, saying many online were surprised by the fashion choice for someone accused of fasc

Joe Rogan didn’t start by talking policy or politics. He started with a coat.

On the Wednesday. June 3 installment of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. the host zeroed in on Greg Bovino’s long trench coat and how it looked in a photo. Rogan said the outfit brought to mind “Nazi Germany. ” and he described how the reaction online quickly centered on the symbolism—especially given Bovino’s record and the accusations surrounding him.

“He wore outfits that were like, reminiscent of, like, Nazi Germany,” Rogan said. “And a lot of people were saying ‘This is a very odd choice for someone to be accused of fascism.’”

Rogan said he even tried to confirm the image was real when he first saw it. “I had to make sure it wasn’t AI when I first saw it,” he recalled, adding: “I was like, this is his real coat that he’s wearing?”

He insisted he wasn’t making a direct accusation just from clothing. “I’m not accusing him of anything. it’s just a f—ing coat. ” Rogan said. before returning to the broader reaction he said he’d seen online. He pointed to how the appearance of the coat landed with people who already viewed Bovino through a harsher lens.

Rogan’s comments come after Bovino was demoted from his position as Border Patrol Commander-at-Large earlier this year. The demotion followed growing concerns about his leadership after Renee Good and Alex Pretti were both shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The situation has been contested. Critics argued that video footage of the two shootings showed Good and Pretti were not attempting to physically harm ICE agents. Others said the agents acted purely in self defense.

In a deposition for a Chicago civil rights lawsuit. Bovino addressed the question of force and said violence should be evaluated case by case. “When violence is threatened, that’s a case-by-case situation,” he said, according to NBC. He added: “Based on the context and what’s happening in this situation. again each situation is based on its own merits. based on the officer sees and that type of thing. But threatening a law enforcement officer is illegal.”.

Rogan also weighed in on the deaths of Good and Pretti. He said he didn’t believe Alex Pretti’s death was an “execution,” and he argued there was more nuance to what happened. “Regardless of how you feel, I don’t believe that guy should have been shot,” he said.

About Renee Good’s death, Rogan described it as “very ugly to watch.” He said, “It just looked horrific to me,” and pointed to how people framed the moment after claiming it was justifiable because a car hit her. Rogan said the footage made it look “like she was kind of turning the car away.”

The coat critique fits into a wider thread of Rogan’s past remarks about immigration enforcement. Back in January, he drew a comparison between ICE agents and Nazi secret police, questioning how far the government would go in policing people’s movements.

“I can also see the point of view of the people that say. ‘Yeah. but you don’t want militarized people in the streets just roaming around snatching people up. many of which turn out to actually be U.S. citizens that just don’t have their papers on them,’” Rogan said. “Are we really going to be the Gestapo?. ‘Where’s your papers?’ Is that what we’ve come to?”.

  1. So he said it’s “reminiscent of Nazi Germany” because of a trench coat?? I mean cmon. If anything that’s like fashion slander and not policy.

  2. I’m sorry but I think the AI thing makes sense? Like if Joe had to make sure it wasn’t AI, then maybe the whole photo is suspect. Also trench coats have been Nazi-ish since forever or whatever, right? Idk, I just know the optics are bad when people are already calling him fasc.

  3. Why is everyone stuck on the coat when the article literally mentions ICE agents shooting people in Minneapolis?? Like that’s the bigger problem. Joe Rogan gonna talk “symbolism” while folks are getting killed and then it’s still “just a coat.” Sounds like distraction to me, not investigation.
