Jeremy Clarkson says prostate cancer was caught early

Jeremy Clarkson revealed in a new social media video that he is in remission from prostate cancer, diagnosed last May. He credits early detection—made possible by testing—and urges men to get checked even without symptoms.

Jeremy Clarkson didn’t come back to social media with a carefully polished update. He started the video with a grin and a blunt line: “Now, the more observant among you will have noticed that I’m not dead.”

The 66-year-old former Top Gear host then said he’s “perfectly fine. ” pointing to the reason he believes he’s still here—doctors caught his prostate cancer early. Clarkson told viewers that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May of last year. during the final episodes of Clarkson’s Farm Season 5.

In his message, he made it clear that the timing mattered. The doctors, he said, were able to catch the cancer early because he got tested.

Clarkson also directly challenged the excuses some people make about screening. He acknowledged that many men don’t want testing if they believe it will involve something invasive. but insisted that “it’s just a blood test these days.” He added that if a doctor tells someone they don’t need testing because they have no symptoms and aren’t in a high-risk category. they should not accept that as an end point.

He urged men to push for a test, even going so far as to say, “just lie.” His point, he said, was that prostate cancer still kills—he referenced that “10, 12,000 people” in the UK die every year from prostate cancer, adding: “Don’t be one of them. Get tested.”

The video came with a tone that was part relief, part insistence. Clarkson’s quick return to health—backed by an early diagnosis and treatment—was the headline for fans. But his bigger message was aimed at the audience watching from their own living rooms. wondering whether they should bother with screening at all.

Clarkson has had his share of public controversies over the years. The source for this update also notes that he “got in a bit of hot water a few years back and ended up apologizing to a celebrity couple.”

For now, though, this latest appearance is about more than attention. He says he’s in remission, and he’s making sure people understand exactly how he credits that outcome: early detection, through testing, before symptoms arrive.

  1. I saw the headline and immediately thought he’s saying “don’t be scared” which is nice, but also he tells people to just lie to get a test?? That’s weird.

  2. So he’s in remission because doctors found it early last May… during Clarkson’s Farm Season 5?? I’m confused on the timeline but either way yeah get checked, even if you don’t feel anything. Prostate cancer kills people, shocking how common it is.

  3. “Just lie” like tell your doctor you have symptoms? lol America would implode if everyone did that. Also I don’t know if I trust his whole thing, he always has some angle. Still, I guess he’s alive so people will listen. Random question though—aren’t prostate tests supposed to be more than blood? My cousin said it was a whole thing.
