Jenny McCarthy Opens Up About the ‘Full Hormonal Circus’ of Menopause, Reveals What ‘Saved My Life’

Jenny McCarthy is getting real about menopause.
In her next book, I’m Too Hot for This [Expletive]: The Naked Truth About Menopause, McCarthy, 53, opens up about what it’s like to ride the “full hormonal circus” that is menopause, detailing the physical and emotional impacts that come with this natural biological stage in a woman’s life.
According to the book’s synopsis, the TV personality and model talks about everything from “brain fog” and night sweats to “disappearing eyebrows” and having “existential crises triggered by bruised bananas at Trader Joe’s.”
Meant to make menopause feel less taboo and reassure women that they aren’t alone in the experience, McCarthy’s latest title aims to guide women through the “menopause wilderness” with the same “warmth” that she brought to her earlier books on parenting, including 2005’s Belly Laughs and its follow-up, Baby Laughs, giving readers “permission to laugh at the absurdity of it all.”
Per the synopsis, I’m Too Hot for This [Expletive] is about “reclaiming this stage of life with humor and honesty” and includes exclusive original interviews with medical experts such as author and menopause specialist Dr. Mary Claire Haver, naturopath Jennifer Sierzant and Dr. Kirsten Singler, McCarthy’s personal medicine doctor.
“Since the publication of my book, Belly Laughs, I have been telling the naked truth, whether it’s the cringe-inducing things no one tells us about pregnancy, sharing openly what we all secretly feel and fear about being new mothers, or laying it bare when it comes to just surviving life,” McCarthy said in a statement to People about the upcoming book published on Thursday, August 13. “Now, I’m telling the truth about menopause.”
The statement continued, “This book is my way of telling women they aren’t alone, revealing the messy, funny, maddening stuff that happens to our bodies and our minds at this stage in life. This is the crazy [expletive] no one warned us about and needs to be said out loud.”
McCarthy, who is married to Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg, previously opened up about menopause during a January 2026 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she shared how Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) has been her saving grace as she’s entered her 50’s.
“HRT, hormone replacement therapy. Now the black box warning is gone. It has been so beneficial. I feel sorry for the Baby Boomers who were scared into, based on the science back then, not to use it. It has saved my life,” McCarthy, who is a mom to her son, Evan, 24, whom she shares with her ex-husband, John Asher, said at the time. “I honestly believe that Karens would become non-existent if they got on HRT.”
She also opened up about communicating with her husband as she manages the ups and downs of menopause.
“Your body’s on fire. Literally, you’re either stripping in malls ’cause you’re sweating so much, or in bed, but your mind is also crazy, you can’t sleep. So, to have that kind of communication, especially at this time in your marriage…,” she explained. “While I was writing this book, I finished it now — the amount of divorces that take place during this time because you shift… remember when you’re PMSing? It’s the time when you get everything out. You’re like, ‘I hate the way you chew. I hate this.’ But imagine that. And those are just moments in the month.”
McCarthy continued, “When menopause kicks in, perimenopause, it’s a couple years, it’s years. But I’m telling you, if you follow the guidelines, you guys, you will be like, ‘Menopause? Easy.”
I’m Too Hot for This [Expletive]: The Naked Truth About Menopause is set for release on February 16, 2027, and is now available for preorder.
