Jennifer Lopez dismissed speculation that she’s dating her “Office Romance” co-star Brett Goldstein during a June 2 appearance on “Today,” pushing back as the rumor swirled around their on-screen chemistry.
Jennifer Lopez has a talent for turning red-carpet chemistry into headlines. This time, though, she wanted the conversation to stop at the facts.
On June 2, Lopez and Brett Goldstein appeared together on “Today,” where host Savannah Guthrie asked whether they “might actually be dating in real life.” Lopez responded with a firm reminder of how these pairings tend to get manufactured whenever two co-stars are seen together.
“There’s never a time when I’m seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don’t try to put me with the person,” Lopez said. Goldstein then joked, “I think if you stand near her, that’s what happens. That’s why I’ve been standing so close this whole time.”
Guthrie pressed again, and the exchange got sharper. Lopez moved to clarify what she called the absence of a real answer—then described the pattern she’s seen before.
“That was not an answer? It was an answer! Because all these people that they put me, I think I was with Kevin Costner this year. I was with … there was a lot of people. It happens all the time. Doesn’t make it true,” she said.
Lopez also reiterated that she is “not dating” at the moment. The denial lands in the shadow of what viewers already know: Lopez and Goldstein star in Netflix’s upcoming rom-com “Office Romance,” and their chemistry has been part of the buzz.
Earlier. Lopez talked about that kiss in a way that only added fuel—she said she felt the on-screen moment with Goldstein was her best. On an October 2025 episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. ” she was asked. “Who has been your favorite on-screen kiss?” She answered. “I just did a movie with Brett Goldstein. and I would say he was the best kisser.”.
At the world premiere of the Netflix rom-com at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre on May 26. Lopez described the connection with Goldstein in terms of how quickly things clicked on set. When asked if they felt an instant spark, she told Variety, “Yeah. I think we did. I knew that we were friendly and easy right away, which was nice.”.
She added that meeting him wasn’t a case of second-guessing from the start. “Sometimes if you meet somebody and it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, he’s kind of a weirdo, but it’s okay, we’ll make this work,’” she said, before turning to Goldstein: “You weren’t a weirdo! Yay!”
Even with those comments, a separate clarification came from a source close to Lopez, who told People that her flirty energy with Goldstein is genuine—while also making clear it isn’t the same thing as romance.
“Her flirty energy with Brett is genuine. She really likes him,” the source said, adding that Lopez is in a good place on her own and “doesn’t need a relationship to feel happy.” The source described her focus as rooted in work, family, and the people closest to her.
Lopez’s personal timeline has been part of the backdrop too. She finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck in January 2025 and shares 18-year-old twins, Max Muñiz and Emme Maribel Muñiz, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
For now, the message is straightforward: the speculation can keep chasing the chemistry, but Lopez has made it clear she’s not dating Brett Goldstein—at least not in the way the headlines want her to be.
