Jenna Bush Hager Blasts Cut Bob Army SNL

Jenna Bush Hager says she was left out of the original “Bob Army” “Saturday Night Live” sketch despite making it to dress rehearsal—after Yang and Rogers revealed her name and a line originally included her alongside Leslie Bibb.
Jenna Bush Hager didn’t have to wait long for her “Bob Army” moment on Saturday Night Live—until she heard how close it came to being hers in the final draft.
On Wednesday, Hager appeared on “Las Culturistas” with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, and the conversation quickly turned to the Season 51 sketch titled “Bob Army.” Hosted by Glen Powell, it made it onto the show in 2025, but Yang’s story suggested Hager was missing from more than just the punchlines.
Hager has been making headlines with her bob haircut since debuting it on “Today. ” and the “Bob Army” sketch premiered soon after that reveal. On the podcast, Yang said her name was part of the sketch’s early version. “We had it in the original draft of this bob sketch on ‘SNL,’ we had your name in it. We had Leslie Bibb’s and Jenna Bush Hager in it,” Yang told her.

Hager’s reaction was immediate. “You cut me out of the bob skit?” she asked, jaw on the floor.
Rogers tried to soothe her by pointing out that she still got a win elsewhere. “Listen, you made it into ‘Devil Wears Prada 2,’” he said. “You won.”

Then Yang added the part that clearly stung: Hager didn’t just miss the final cut—she made it to the dress rehearsal. “Yang then revealed that the ‘Today’ host’s name made it into the dress rehearsal of ‘Saturday Night Live’ but got cut when they needed to shave time off of the sketch. ” the discussion made clear. and Hager shot back. “I made it to the dress rehearsal?!”.
Rogers explained how that usually works, saying, “That’s usually when Lorne steps in.” Hager responded with a joke that landed like a headline of its own: “Lorne said, ‘Who the f–k is Jenna Bush Hager?’”
A clip of the exchange is making the rounds. and it comes with a lot more detail than just a friendly roast. The “Bob Army” sketch stars Andrew Dismukes as a cadet enlisted in a new “top-secret division” in the U.S. Army. Dismukes’ character is then joined by Powell. Yang. and Sarah Sherman as soldiers in the “Slay Division. ” where every soldier has a bob.
Later in the bit, Dismukes asks if Pete Hegseth knows about the operation, and Yang answers, “We only answer to Leslie Bibb.” But the version Hager originally thought might include her didn’t end there.
Yang revealed that the line used earlier was “We only answer to Leslie Bibb and Jenna Bush Hager.”
When Hager heard that her name was in drafts and rehearsal—even before it vanished from the final sketch—it didn’t sound like a total shock. She previously addressed the possibility that the sketch might be aimed at her as well as Bibb after the episode aired in November.
On “Today With Jenna & Friends. ” Hager shared her staff’s suspicions. saying. “The people that work on our staff are saying it may have been inspired by. it’s definitely inspired by Leslie Bibb. but also possibly me on the show. I’m not so sure.” She later made that point available on TikTok too. showing her continued uncertainty about what exactly the sketch was referencing—while wearing her bob and carrying the sense that she’d been hovering just offscreen.
Still, there’s one detail Hager can’t shake: she didn’t just flirt with being referenced—she reportedly made rehearsal. And after being cut for time, she was left with the kind of outrage that only hits when you’re the subject and the clock wins.

Wow they really snipped her from the sketch? That’s kinda messed up.
I don’t even watch SNL like that but if she was at dress rehearsal and still got cut… why does that feel like some HR drama lol. Also bob army sounds like a fandom thing not a sketch.
Wait so they included her name at first and then “shaved time”??? That’s the most Hollywood excuse ever. Couldn’t they just shave time off someone else’s line instead. Makes it sound like she’s not funny enough which… idk.
This is why I hate comedy writing. They’re like oh we need to cut one person and suddenly it’s a whole scandal. Jenna’s bob haircut was trending anyway so I’m sure the sketch would’ve been good either way. Glen Powell was hosting right? so he could’ve just saved her line or something. People act like this is serious but it’s literally a dress rehearsal, they say that then still act like it’s a win? lol
