MS NOW’s Jen Psaki called out corporate America, and “Silicon Valley tech titans” in particular, for cozying up to Donald Trump at the start of his second term now that the decision appears, in retrospect, to have been a miscalculation.
“Do you remember how, in the months after Trump was elected, there was this completely delusional idea that America had experienced some sort of massive nationwide vibe shift?” Psaki asked on “The Briefing” on Friday.
“That the guy who didn’t break 50% of the vote was considered an all-powerful political force, that the age of Trumpism was now our new normal in this country,” she continued. “There was no going back, and American corporations and institutions all had to rush to get on board with his agenda.”
Psaki recalled watching “big, powerful law firms rush to bend the knee to Trump,” while major media organizations settled lawsuits, paid millions of dollars and “caved to his intimidation tactics.”
She added, “And perhaps, though, the best example of this phenomenon was the way that Silicon Valley tech titans tripped all over themselves to grovel before the mad king.”
Psaki pointed to the embrace of Trump by X owner Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and more.
“It was all just incredibly embarrassing for all of these guys, but that was how too much of corporate America reacted to Trump’s second term,” she said. “They cowered before him, like he and the MAGA world he created were going to reign all-powerful for a thousand years moving forward.”
But Psaki argued that anyone familiar with Trump should have predicted what would come next, with his support now tanking amid his deeply unpopular war with Iran and price-hiking tariffs.
Now, she suggested: “The illusion of Trump’s lasting power and influence has completely faded away, and now even members of his own party are trying to wash some of the Trump stink off of themselves.”
