The Utah Jazz and free-agent guard Terrell Brown Jr. on Thursday agreed to a contract, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes. The financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to be a non-guaranteed training camp contract that could include Exhibit 10 language.
If the agreement contains that provision, Brown could receive a bonus if Utah waives him before the regular season and he subsequently spends at least 60 days with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s NBA G League affiliate.
Brown, 28, went undrafted in 2022 after completing his final college season with the Washington Huskies. The Seattle native has spent the last four seasons in the G League, playing for the Memphis Hustle during the 2022-23 campaign before joining the Greensboro Swarm. He previously signed Exhibit 10 contracts with the Charlotte Hornets in 2023 and 2025, but the team released him before he made an NBA regular-season appearance.
Brown finished last season with Greensboro averaging 11.9 points, 6.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 50 games while playing 25.7 minutes per contest. He shot 40.4% from the field, 32.5% from three-point range and 78.2% from the free-throw line. He helped the Swarm win the G League championship.
Brown also recently won The Basketball Tournament with Davis Steel, a $2 million winner-take-all competition. He hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer in the semifinals to send his team into the championship game.
Brown’s college career included stops at Western Oregon, Shoreline Community College, Seattle University, Arizona and Washington. He was a first-team All-WAC selection in 2020 after averaging 20.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists, then earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2022 after leading the conference with 21.7 points per game while averaging 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
Utah already has 15 players on traditional contracts, three two-way players and Harrison Ingram under an Exhibit 10 agreement. Brown’s addition would bring the Jazz to 20 players under contract, leaving one offseason roster spot available. Given the crowded roster, Brown is likely competing for a training camp opportunity with the possibility of opening the season with the Stars.
