Nearly six years after his breakup with Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis says he isn’t dating anyone right now—and that the idea of jumping into a new relationship feels overwhelming, especially with parenting two kids who come first.

On the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on Tuesday, the 50-year-old actor confirmed he is not dating anyone at the moment. He also admitted the single life comes with “ups and downs.” When Kristin Batalucco—wife of the co-host Lil Dicky—asked whether he’s “more of a relationship guy. ” Sudeikis answered that dating feels “daunting” to him.
“I like being in relation to people. I’m not at a point in my life where it feels good or fulfilling to date numerous people all at once. That feels daunting and overwhelming, especially with being a parent,” he said.
His parenting responsibilities aren’t just part of the background—they’re the organizing principle. Sudeikis shares two children with Olivia Wilde: a 12-year-old son, Otis, and a 9-year-old daughter, Daisy. In the conversation, he made it clear that whoever he dates would have to understand that his kids come first.
“There’s also a new thing of anyone I’m dating. that they are never number one on the call sheet. as the showbiz saying would go. The kids are. Even probably more so than myself. Then there’s that little bit as you get older. you’re like. ‘Oh God. I gotta make sure my cup’s full in order for other people to get the overflow.’”.
When Benny Blanco asked whether he would like more kids one day, Sudeikis said he “would” have more children—but only “if I fell in love.” For now, though, he emphasized that he loves being a dad to Otis and Daisy.
He also described how he shows up at home, calling himself a strict-“ish” father when it comes to “manners and stuff and saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’” And he’s not just watching them grow—he’s enjoying what comes next.
“Oh my gosh, they’re so funny. They’re getting funnier and funnier as they go. Daisy’s been funny from jump,” he gushed.
