Jamie Vardy’s podcast secures live broadcasting rights for the BUNDESLIGA – as he beats Gary Neville to new gig

Jamie Vardy has secured live broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga, beating out Gary Neville to the gig.

The former England and Leicester City striker, who is currently without a club, launched his YouTube channel and podcast in June. 

And now he will broadcast seven Friday night Bundesliga matches throughout the season across the United Kingdom and Ireland. 

Vardy’s partnership, which will see him watch and comment on the games, begins tonight as Bayern Munich take on Stuttgart in the season curtain-raiser. 

It follows streamer Mark Goldbridge picking up a similar arrangement last season for his That’s Football channel. 

His Bundesliga live streams have typically garnered somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 views, though that is with an audience of 1.5 million subscribers. Vardy has 12,800 subs. 

A source told The Sun: ‘This is a huge move for Jamie as he expands his talents in broadcasting, while still playing football.

‘He’s buzzing to reach Bundesliga fans and chat with star guests about action on the pitch.

‘He’s hoping to creat a real community with his podcast and is loving getting into the nitty gritty of the sport.’

Rick Murray, CEO of producers Workerbee, added: ‘Fans don’t just want to watch football anymore, they want to experience it with the people they already know and trust.

‘Jamie has built an incredible community around the podcast, and thanks to our Bundesliga partnership, we can bring that audience closer to some seriously big games.’

Vardy has already had the likes of Sean Dyche, Wes Morgan, and David James on his podcast.

Interestingly, his best-viewed video by some stretch has been with automotive YouTuber Mat Armstrong. That has raked in 150,000 views. 

Daily Mail Sport has reached out to Vardy’s representatives for comment. 

The 39-year-old is a free agent after leaving Italian club Cremonese upon their relegation from Serie A.
