Jake Reiner says ‘I do’ to Maria Gilfillan amid family murder tragedy and ongoing criminal case against brother Nick
Jake Reiner has married Maria Gilfillan amid the aftermath of his parents, Rob and Michele’s, murder.
Jake lost both his parents to the tragedy, while his younger brother, Nick, was arrested for the murder and a criminal case is still being pursued against him.

According to TMZ, the 34-year-old quietly wed Gilfillan in a small ceremony in early August.
He also appeared to confirm the marriage before the report surfaced donning a wedding band during his first television interview since his parents’ demise.
The couple has kept their relationship largely out of the public eye and the last time he shared a picture with his now-wife on Instagram was in October 2025, when the couple attended someone else’s big day.
In an emotional Substack essay, he reflected on the milestones his parents would never witness. For Jake, one of the hardest parts of losing them was knowing they would never get to see him be married, meet his future children or watch his career grow.
He has now reached one of those milestones without Rob and Michele.
Jake Reiner on his parents’ murder and his brother’s case
Days before the news of his marriage emerged, Jake sat down with KABC for his first interview that would air on television and he discussed Rob and Michele’s passing.
He described the past eight months as a “living nightmare” after his parents were found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14, 2025.
Jake recalled the moment his sister, Romy, tried to reach him while he attended a celebration of life event for a high school friend.
“Romy called me and I screened it, because I thought at the time, I’m in the middle of something, you know, I’ll call her back,” he said. “And then, she called immediately again and I knew at that point that something was wrong.”
Romy then informed Jake that their father had died and that she could not find their mother.
“I immediately went into shock,” he said. He worked as a reporter for years and described his experience of arriving at the crime scene, which was once his childhood home.
“As a reporter, I did it for 10 years, I came up on crime scenes all the time,” Jake explained. “But when it’s your crime scene, a crime scene at your childhood home, it’s like the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen.”
He declined to comment on his feelings about Nick, who remains in custody and said he has not spoken with his brother since the tragic incident.
