Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence will love this major injury update as preseason rolls along

The Jacksonville Jaguars are getting healthier along the offensive line as they prepare for their second preseason matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen is coming off the physically unable to perform list after passing his physical, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday. The development provides encouraging news for quarterback Trevor Lawrence as Jacksonville continues preparing for the 2026 regular season.
“Sources: The #Jaguars are getting healthy on the offensive line, as Cole Van Lanen is coming off the PUP list today, having passed his physical,” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “He injured his knee in Week 18, and now he is set to return to the field.”

Cole Van Lanen’s return provides major boost for Trevor Lawrence
Van Lanen suffered the knee injury during Jacksonville’s Week 18 matchup against the Tennessee Titans and subsequently missed the team’s postseason run. The Jaguars finished the 2025 regular season with an impressive 13-4 record before falling to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC wild-card round.
Jacksonville demonstrated its commitment to Van Lanen earlier this year by signing the 28-year-old offensive lineman to a three-year, $51 million contract extension.
His return gives the Jaguars another important piece up front as the preseason progresses and the team works toward having its offensive line at full strength.
For Lawrence, getting Van Lanen back on the field provides another boost to his protection ahead of the 2026 campaign. Jacksonville will continue its preseason schedule Friday against Carolina as it prepares to build on last season’s 13-win campaign.
