Jace Velaryon’s Vermax dies in season three premiere

Jace Velaryon – Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, known as Jace, claims the dragon Vermax after King Viserys places dragon eggs in the boys’ cradles to quell rumors about their parentage. Vermax spends two seasons without combat, then meets his end in the season three premiere when J

Prince Jacaerys Velaryon—better known as Jace—has the kind of beginning that draws doubt even before he can prove himself. He is Rhaenyra’s eldest son. and while the public record names Lord Laenor Velaryon as his father. the account more likely points to Ser Harwin Strong as the one who fathered Jace and his two brothers.

Rumors like that don’t fade quietly. King Viserys ordered a dragon egg to be placed in each of the boys’ cradles. so they could instantly claim the dragons that hatched. Those who believed the boys were bastards doubted two things at once: that they could bond with dragons. and that the eggs would even hatch. Both doubts were proven wrong.

Jace’s dragon was named Vermax. He was one of the youngest dragons in Rhaenyra’s active army. and the pair didn’t see any combat for two full seasons. That peace didn’t mean invisibility, though. Jace did fly Vermax to the Wall. the Vale. and the Twins to treat with Houses Stark. Arryn. and Frey. respectively.

All of it changed in the season three premiere. Jace flew Vermax into his first and last battle. The dragon was impaled and pulled into the sea. Jace survived the drowning, but the reprieve didn’t last: when he emerged on the surface, he was shot to death by enemy arrows.

  1. I’m confused like… wasn’t Jace already supposed to be legit? The whole egg thing sounds like they just lied harder and then surprise, surprise tragedy.

  2. So is everyone just gonna ignore that King Viserys basically staged their whole parentage with dragon eggs? Like that’s wild. Also I thought the dragon was gonna be the main bad moment but nope it’s the arrows after he pops up like come on.

  3. Not to be dramatic but if they were sending eggs in cradles to stop rumors then they should’ve expected the rumors to get worse?? And why does it say Laenor is the father if it’s probably Harwin? Makes no sense. I swear writers just want everyone upset.
