Is Bonnaroo happening in 2027? The festival’s future is unclear
Bonnaroo kicks off 4-day festival at The Farm in Manchester
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival opened for the four-day event June 11, 2026 in Manchester, Tennessee.
What we know about Bonnaroo 2027 is … well, nothing.
Last year, organizers announced future dates in July, but this year they have yet to confirm dates for 2027. Instead, organizers circulated a survey asking if participants would be more likely to attend the festival in September instead of June.
As rumors fly online that the music and arts festival may be canceled next year, public officials in the City of Manchester, Tennessee, have received no word about next year’s festival.
Manchester Fire Department and Manchester Police Department have no official information on Bonnaroo 2027, both told The Tennessean.
The Tennessean has reached out to the Bonnaroo team and Live Nation for comment, as well as Coffee County Emergency Medical Services.
Now, fans remain on the lookout for future festival dates and other announcements.
On a recent episode of “The What Podcast,” a weekly show about Bonnaroo, host Barry Courter said “we are monitoring some news out of Bonnaroo, just to let you know that we are aware.” Music lovers are concerned that the festival may not return.
“When we know more, we will let you know,” he said.
The cryptic remarks drew an array of comments from Bonnaroo fans.
“Well now I’m worried,” someone commented. “Take a year off. Market is saturated,” another person said.
Bonnaroo returned in 2026 following a mid-festival cancellation due to heavy rain in 2025.
Several shows were delayed or canceled due to weather during the 2026 festival, raising questions about the ongoing improvements to the festival grounds. Sister duo Aly & AJ’s set was canceled for the second year in a row. They recommended, via an Instagram post, that festival organizers move Bonnaroo to a different time of year.
Back in 2025, heavy, prolonged rainfall flooded The Farm, damaging festival grounds and making it unsafe to continue the show. Campers struggled to leave the site, getting stuck in inches of mud.
Four years earlier, organizers called off Bonnaroo before the festival began due to remnant rainfall from Hurricane Ida swamping the grounds. However, in 2023, The Tennessean reported that Bonnaroo still managed to contribute $339 million to Tennessee’s economy over the previous 20 years.
In the wake of the 2025 cancellation, Bonnaroo organizers made millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements to The Farm, all intended to help the area better withstand heavy rain.
Bonnaroo 2026, which was headlined by Skrillex, The Strokes, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Noah Kahan, went off with only a few slight hitches.
The festival persevered through a severe weather evacuation due to lightning and heavily-saturated festival grounds that turned into sticky, thick mud, as well as a two-hour power outage.
When asked, many participants at the 2026 festival said they would attend again in 2027, depending on the lineup and the corresponding costs.
