Bloomberg reports that the iPhone Air 2 is being tested and is expected to launch in early 2027, with improved battery life and an ultra-wide camera. The same report frames these as focused changes rather than sweeping, “breakthrough” upgrades.

The timing matters because iPhone Air itself launched in September 2025, debuting alongside the iPhone 17 lineup as a separate device. That launch pattern—separate from the mainline iPhones—helped set expectations that Apple wouldn’t be upgrading it every single year at first.

The latest rumor places the second-generation iPhone Air in the spring, alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e. The speculation already had a reason to exist: a previously known shift in Apple’s iPhone release schedule. which nudged observers toward spring as the likely landing zone for the Air follow-up.

Why this matters for iPhone Air 2 is simple: if the foldable can’t ramp production quickly enough. it reshapes the math of Apple’s multi-month plan.
