iOS 27 brings a standalone Siri app to iPhones

Apple says iOS 27 will add a dedicated Siri app icon to iPhone Home Screens for users on devices that support Apple Intelligence, with chat-style access to past conversations, iCloud syncing, and the ability to upload photos and files for analysis.

For many iPhone users, Siri has lived inside the moment—asked a question, then moved on. With iOS 27, Apple is changing that rhythm. At WWDC this week. the company introduced iOS 27 and. among its biggest visible changes. a new all-new Siri app that will appear as its own icon on your iPhone’s Home Screen.

Apple’s message is simple: if you update to iOS 27 later this year, the new Siri app will be pre-installed and ready to use. The same app concept is also coming to other platforms—macOS 27 for Mac, visionOS 27 for Vision Pro, iPadOS 27 for iPad, and watchOS 27 for Apple Watch.

Inside the app, Siri becomes less like a quick assistant and more like a place to revisit your history. The Siri app lets you revisit all your conversations with Siri and start new ones. It also uses a chat-style interface built around a stream of previous conversations.

That history isn’t locked to one device. The Siri app syncs with iCloud, so users can continue those Siri conversations across their Apple devices—turning something that used to feel fragmented into a single, persistent thread.

Apple says the new app is built to connect directly to the Siri AI and Apple Intelligence capabilities introduced in iOS 27. That includes access to broad world knowledge and personal context from what’s on your iPhone. Siri AI can also recognize what’s on your screen and answer questions about it.

The app’s access to personal context is also described in practical terms: Siri AI can reference items such as messages. emails. and photos to answer questions specific to the user. The Siri app also adds an interface feature that feels built for modern use—users can upload photos and files to the Siri app for analysis.

Not every iPhone will get the same experience. The Siri app won’t be available on all iPhone models. Apple says it will come to devices that support Apple Intelligence, which includes iPhone 15 Pro and newer. That list includes: iPhone 15 Pro. iPhone 15 Pro Max. iPhone 16. iPhone 16 Plus. iPhone 16 Pro. iPhone 16 Pro Max. iPhone 17. iPhone 17e. iPhone Air. iPhone 17 Pro. and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple has been adding more default apps to the iPhone recently. In December 2024, iOS 18.2 included Image Playground as part of iPhone updates. Last year’s iOS 26 update added new Preview and Games apps for iPhone users—suggesting Apple is leaning further into keeping more “everyday” features permanently on the Home Screen.

For iPhone owners who are eligible for Apple Intelligence, iOS 27’s new Siri app lands with a clear promise: Siri won’t just answer you once—it will keep a record of the conversation, sync it across devices, and tie it more directly to the things you already have on your phone.
