Indiana football making history in 2026

Just a couple of years ago, the college football world would have told you it would never happen.
But after a magical 2025 season, the Indiana Hoosiers have sold out all of their 2026 home games, the first time that’s happened in over 50 years, reports Jared Kelly of Peegs.com, the 247 Sports site.
Kelly explained that all season tickets and single-game tickets are sold out, the first time that’s happened since at least 1969, though sellouts have become much more common during this uber successful period under head coach Curt Cignetti.
“Indiana has recorded eight home sellouts during Curt Cignetti’s tenure as head coach; factoring in this season’s eight home games, that figure will rise to 16 total sellouts, including 12 straight, in three seasons under Cignetti,” Kelly wrote.
Between 2000 and Cignetti’s arrival ahead of the 2024 season, Indiana had sold out just eight games in total.
“A majority of those sold-out home games were due to opposing fans traveling to Bloomington,” Kelly said.
This year, those fans are still likely to come, given the schedule that might daunt other teams (but never the Hoosiers).
Indiana hosts eight teams:
- Sept. 5: North Texas
- Sept. 12: Howard
- Sept. 19: Western Kentucky
- Sept. 25: Northwestern
- Oct. 17: Ohio State
- Oct. 31: Minnesota
- Nov. 14: USC
- Nov. 28: Purdue
That slate starts relatively easy with out-of-conference opponents North Texas, Howard and Western Kentucky, but the back half includes two big matchups in Ohio State and USC.
As the Hoosiers look to defend their national title, those games and away matchups against Michigan and Washington, among others, could present some trouble.
At least when they’re at home, though, Cignetti’s team will have a roaring crowd behind them.
