‘Hypocrites’: MAGA Calls Out the Left After Mamdani Says IDs Required For His Grocery Stores

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) sparked a wave of criticism from MAGA world on Monday when his administration announced at a press conference that his city-run grocery stores would require IDs.
“How are you going to keep people from taking advantage of that deal, basically? And is there going to be a limit on the number of items that someone can take that are discounted at that level from that essential basket?” a reporter asked Mamdani about the logistics of his free, taxpayer-funded grocery stores.
“So our RFP (Request for Proposal) makes very clear that this is a program for New Yorkers to be able to put food on the table, not a program for people to be able to make a quick buck through reselling. I’m gonna pass it over to our EDC head, Jean Pak, to add some additional details,” Mamdani replied.
Pak then took the mic and replied, “Yeah, so if you look at our RFP for the operator, we are looking to make sure that we target New Yorkers, whether it be at sort of a library-card-esque system, and also we manage who’s buying, and that is focused on everyday New Yorkers. So we are mindful of that, and so we’re gonna make sure that we have all the things in place to make sure that does not happen.”
Elon Musk replied to the clip, “Oh, the irony is too much…”
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) then added, “.@elonmusk — it’s not just ironic, it’s hypocritical! @NYCMayor Mamdani’s going to require an ID check for his grocery stores, but thinks it’s racist to require one for federal elections?!? We HAVE to pass the SAVE America Act to end this corruption!”
Dave Portnoy of Barstool sports reacted by writing, “So you need a valid ID to shop at Mandami’s government grocery stores to make sure the system isnt taken advantage of. But the same people who love this idea will also scream racism if you say you need a valid ID to vote so the system doesnt get taken advantage of.”
“Hypocrites man…Either you should be for no ID for both or ID for both. But if you are split than you are prob a fraud,” he concluded.
