Hulu is betting big on science fiction this year, with Paradise Season 3 already lining up new stars and Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice proving to be a smooth, easy watch for sci-fi fans—despite its denied theatrical run.
Keith David isn’t the first name you’d expect to see on a Hulu sci-fi victory lap, but after months of streaming buzz, he’s now part of one of the platform’s most talked-about genre success stories of 2026.
Hulu has already made serious noise this year, starting with the premiere of Paradise Season 2, a Dan Fogelman-written show starring Sterling K. Brown that wrapped its second season more than a month ago. Production on Season 3 is now well underway, and it’s expected to be the series’ final season.
Fogelman confirmed last week on his personal Instagram that Elijah Wood—who’s appeared in The Lord of the Rings—and Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist have both been cast in key roles for Paradise Season 3. What they’ll actually play is still being kept under wraps.
Then there’s the other side of Hulu’s sci-fi push: Predator: Badlands. which premiered on streaming and has made a serious splash after a box office run that most people would’ve called only moderately successful.. And while that movie continues to draw attention. Hulu’s sleeper status has more to do with a different kind of momentum.
In March. Hulu released Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. a film that stars James Marsden—also a critical presence in Paradise—along with Vince Vaughn. Eiza González. and Keith David.. The movie is dominating streaming around the world nearly two full months after its premiere. and the time-traveling action-comedy has landed with audiences looking for something fun and low-friction.
The catch: the film was denied a theatrical release. But now that enough time has passed, many fans agree Disney made the right call by taking the story straight to Hulu rather than trying to chase a big box-office moment.
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is a R-rated. stylized action-comedy centered on “a pair of gangsters and the woman they love. ” trying to survive what’s described as “the most dangerous night of their lives. ” all while a time machine throws everything into chaos.. BenDavid Grabinski—known for work as a writer on Scott Pilgrim Takes Off—wrote and directed the film.
Critics came in with a solid 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences were more mixed, giving it a 61% rating.
