On Main Street in Hudson, the moments after a crash can stretch into days of waiting. For an 85-year-old man struck by a vehicle on June 6, that waiting ended this week when police were told he died from his injuries.
Hudson police responded to the area of 79 Main St. around 11:40 a.m. after reports that a pedestrian had been hit, later identified as James Calf. When first responders arrived, they found Calf suffering from injuries “consistent with a crash,” police said in a press release. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Police later learned that Calf died from his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told Hudson police on Monday, according to police, that Calf had died.
The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene following the crash, police said. No details surrounding the circumstances of the crash were released, and police have not announced any charges.
The incident is still under investigation by the Hudson Police Department. the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. For now. the questions that follow a street crash—what led up to it. and how it happened—remain unanswered while investigators continue their work.
