How will the Grand Ole Opry honor Dolly?
The entire performance is being dedicated to her memory. The Opry’s marquee will also honor her throughout Saturday evening.
A portion of the ticket sales will benefit Dolly Parton‘s Imagination Library, which is the literacy program that distributes free books to children. Dolly was also a longtime member Grand Ole Opry member and was inducted in 1969.
Dolly’s connection to the Grand Ole Opry
Dolly became an official member in 1969 and the institution was central to her country career and several of her professional relationships. She famously reunited with Porter Wagoner on the Opry stage during his 50th-anniversary celebration in 2007.
The “9 to 5” singer sadly passed away on August 25 at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Numerous artists have honored her through statements and live performances, such as Brad Paisley, who performed their duet at his first concert since her death.
