Following a full season of starting experience, Arch Manning was hoping for a better performance in Texas’ rematch against Ohio State on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The Longhorns signal-caller struggled at first, but may have had the best moment of his Texas career in a 24-23 comeback win vs. the top-ranked Buckeyes in Week 2. He led three straight touchdown drives to end the game to give the Longhorns a last-minute win.
While Manning’s receivers made a few crucial drops, he ultimately was able to find a rhythm against the Buckeyes, even as his Ohio State counterpart Julian Sayin out-produced him through the air.
The nephew of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning said in the week leading up to the game that he didn’t like watching film from Texas’ 14-7 loss to Ohio State from Week 1 of the last season, in which the Buckeyes stymied Manning and the Longhorns’ offensive attack. Though he might not like his full body of work this time around, he can walk off DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium with his head held high in a win.
