HMD Luma 2 leak shows iPhone-like camera slab

Leaked renders of the HMD Luma 2 show a two-tone, iPhone-style camera plateau on the back—now paired with budget-friendly specs like a 6.75-inch 120Hz IPS LCD, a Unisoc T7280 chip, Android 16, and a 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging.

Every few months, a new budget Android phone shows up with a design that’s either heavily inspired by the latest iPhone or a straightforward copy. This latest one is testing that boundary again.

Leaked renders of the HMD Luma 2, shared by tipster @smashx_60 on X, show a rectangular camera plateau sitting in the upper section of the rear panel. It looks close to the one on the iPhone 17 Pro—except HMD reportedly fits two cameras instead of three.

The renders also suggest a two-tone finish. The lower portion of the back appears slightly different from the top, echoing Apple’s latest Pro iPhones, which introduced a glass lower portion for wireless charging and an aluminum upper camera bar.

Even the color story feels familiar. The third colorway, Midnight Lake, is described as close to the iPhone 17 Pro’s Deep Blue. And this isn’t new for HMD: the current HMD Luma already mirrors the iPhone 16 Pro look, with its rear camera module placed at the top-left of the back panel.

The big question—beyond the aesthetics—is what HMD is offering underneath that familiar silhouette. The same X post lists the reported core specs for the HMD Luma 2.

The phone is said to include a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD with 120Hz. It’s reported to run on the Unisoc T7280, paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM that can be expanded up to 8GB via virtual RAM. Storage options are listed as 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1, with expansion up to 1TB using a microSD card.

Out of the box, the Luma 2 is reportedly set to run Android 16. The camera setup is expected to include a 50MP main camera with a secondary lens, plus an 8MP selfie shooter.

Power comes from a 6,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging. The feature list in the post also points to a 3.5mm audio jack, OZO Audio, and IP54 protection.

The story here isn’t just whether HMD matches Apple’s shape—it’s how consistently it’s doing it across multiple generations while sticking to budget-friendly hardware: 120Hz display, Unisoc T7280 performance, UFS 2.1 storage, and a large 6,000mAh battery.

For now. the only concrete window into HMD Luma 2 comes from the leaked renders and the spec sheet shared by @smashx_60 on X on June 19. 2026. But the design cues are already loud enough to make the debate feel familiar again—especially for anyone who’s tired of seeing the same iPhone-like camera architecture roll through the budget market.

  1. Unisoc T7280? So it’s gonna be slow, right? Also the camera slab looks exactly like the iPhone but with “two instead of three”?? I don’t even get why that matters.

  2. People keep saying it’s copying Apple but honestly I’m more mad they’re putting Android 16 with a 120Hz screen and only 4GB. Like what is virtual RAM even doing when the chip is mid. Sounds like it’ll lag the second you open one app.

  3. 6,000mAh and 18W charging… that part seems good? But IP54 and a 3.5mm jack like okay nice, I guess. The “Midnight Lake” color sounds made up though, like they’re just renaming Deep Blue to avoid lawsuits or whatever. Also is the glass lower part actually for wireless charging or did I read that wrong?
