Hidden device found inside Mass General Brigham research lab locker room

Local News

The hidden object was discovered after it fell to the ground, and police are investigating who placed it there.

A researcher discovered a hidden device in the shower area of a locker room at a Mass General Brigham research facility in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area Wednesday morning, prompting a police investigation.

Boston police responded around 9:10 a.m. after people at the facility at 4 Blackfan Circle reported finding what they believed was a hidden camera in the changing area. Police took the device into custody and are investigating who placed it there.

Mass General Brigham said it immediately notified police, secured the area, and followed its safety protocols.

The space is accessible only by badge. It is limited to researchers; patients and other staff do not have access to the area.

Mass General Brigham leases the facility for research purposes, but an outside company owns the building.

The health care system said it had not yet determined what type of device was found and had not confirmed that it was a camera.

Mass General Brigham said it is cooperating fully with law enforcement.
