For the first part of the workweek, Southeast Michigan gets a break. Sunday night stays quiet, with rain chances fading as the evening moves forward.

Skies turn partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight, and a southerly breeze around 10 mph keeps conditions mild. By Monday morning, temperatures only dip into the low to mid 60s.

Monday starts bright. Sunshine builds through the morning as the region warms into the 80s for the afternoon, with a breezy southwest wind adding to the feel-good start. But that warmth won’t last without a fight in the sky.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the afternoon and linger into Monday evening. The concern is not just rain—it’s the possibility of a few strong storms. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk for severe weather in Southeast Michigan on Monday, rated level 2/5.

The same severe-storm setup carries into Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center has that same Slight Risk (level 2/5) for severe storms on Tuesday as well. Both days, the best time for severe storms is in the afternoon and evening.

When those storms arrive, the main hazards are clear: large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain.

Tuesday also brings heat back to the foreground, with afternoon temperatures again in the mid to upper 80s. Then, as the workweek turns a corner, the forecast shifts away from the threat.

Wednesday is expected to cool, with highs in the mid 60s. From there, temperatures stay comfortable through the end of the week, turning down both the heat and the urgency—just as attention is still on what Monday and Tuesday’s storms could bring.
