For most viewers, Chloe vs. History doesn’t just look like a history channel. It feels like something stranger and more personal—like watching a modern vlogger step into the past.
The series follows Chloe. an AI-generated character who experiences major historical moments such as Pompeii and the Titanic as if she’s filming in real time. Her realistic appearance and personality have helped the channel rack up millions of views across Instagram and YouTube. but they’ve also sparked the same question again and again: whether Chloe is real.
The creator behind it all is Jonathan Laramy. In an episode focused on building the channel. he explains how he created Chloe from scratch despite having no formal filmmaking background. He walks through the AI tools that power the work and the process of producing a single video—what it takes to make AI-generated content feel authentic enough that viewers suspend disbelief.
The most striking part for new business watchers is the scale of the effort behind each release. Laramy describes production costs that can reach hundreds of pounds for some videos. along with timelines that can stretch to weeks to complete. That’s not how most people imagine an influencer operation driven by quick posts and constant output.
And it wasn’t just production that took time to figure out. Laramy says the business struggled to generate meaningful revenue at first. The early push toward short-form content didn’t deliver the payoff he needed, and the channel’s momentum wasn’t yet translating into stable earnings.
The turning point came when he shifted focus from short-form content to long-form YouTube documentaries. With that change. the channel’s approach—and its ability to monetize—moved in a new direction. aligning the work more closely with what audiences tend to reward: longer attention. deeper storytelling. and the kind of format where authenticity can survive longer than a scroll.

So Chloe is an AI but people still think she’s real? That’s wild. Also the Titanic one better not be faked for views.
I don’t get the whole “is Chloe real” thing, it’s literally AI history vlogs lol. But if it’s getting millions then whatever, people love it.
The title makes it sound like he turned real history into a million-view hit but it’s just an AI character posting. Pompeii and Titanic on Instagram too like… when did this become a thing? Also “costs hundreds of pounds”?? why is that a flex, shouldn’t it be cheap if it’s AI.
Honestly I think it’s kind of creepy how personal it feels. Like she’s “filming in real time” but it’s still generated, right? Idk, I read somewhere AI channels pay off way faster though, so weeks and lots of money doesn’t add up to me. Maybe he just wanted to bait people into watching long-form instead of shorts.
