We knew it was coming. It’s September 1st, and we’re officially returning to Hogwarts. Following the earlier tease from HBO back in March, we’ve had the full trailer for the most anticipated television series in history. And this is definitely not the Harry Potter you remember. This is different, this is wild, and this is something altogether more exciting. Yeah, we still have that nostalgia, but this is more of a showcase than the last one. The teaser wanted us to remember what made us fall in love with Potter, but this trailer is full of added magic. We have more sight of forgotten characters, of fantastic locations and, of course, Potions class. How can anyone even study in that kind of light? Not to mention the new Hans Zimmer score.
The official logline for Season 1 reads:
“There is nothing special about Harry Potter — or so his Aunt Petunia tells him. But when a mysterious letter of admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrives, it opens the door to a hidden world of magic, friendship and adventure. Yet behind Hogwarts’ enchanted walls lie dark secrets. Harry must find the courage to prove himself against the darkest wizard of all.”
The new Harry Potter series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, alongside John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The Weasley family includes Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, with Tristan Harland, Gabriel Harland, Ruari Spooner, and Gracie Cochrane appearing as Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny Weasley.

Other Hogwarts students include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley. Additional cast members include Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Leigh Gill as Griphook.
As for the rest of the Hogwarts assembly, Orson Matthews will play Oliver Wood, with Asha Soetan as Angelina Johnson, Eire Farrell as Katie Bell, and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss as Alicia Spinnet. Ethan Smith has also joined the cast as Lee Jordan. Over in Hufflepuff, India Moon will play Hannah Abbott, James Trevelyan Buckle is Justin Finch-Fletchley, Cian Eagle-Service has been cast as Ernie MacMillan, and Jazmyn Lewin will play Susan Bones.
Ravenclaw is adding Anjula Murali as Padma Patil, Aaron Zhao as Terry Boot, Scarlett Archer as Penelope Clearwater, and Eve Walls as Lisa Turpin. Slytherin is also getting a major expansion, with Oliver Croft cast as Marcus Flint, D’Angelou Osei-Kissiedu as Graham Montague, Dylan Heath as Adrian Pucey, Cornelius Brandreth as Terence Higgs, Eddison Burch as Miles Bletchley, James Dowell as Lucian Bole, Henry Medhurst as Peregrine Derrick, and Laila Barwick as Pansy Parkinson.
