Harry and Meghan called “bitter” as wedding photos land

A royal commentator says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer viewed warmly by the public, arguing their post-royal messaging and wedding-anniversary photo drop are aimed at keeping a “living happily ever after” image—while critics say they still cash

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t landing the way they used to, and the reaction is getting sharper as they mark their eighth wedding anniversary.

On GB News, commentator Kinsey Schofield said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now come across to many people as “bitter and unhappy.” She framed their public comeback as a bid to reinforce a fairytale narrative—insisting, “the ultimate objective is to prove that they are living happily ever after.”

Schofield added that public forgiveness has been hard to come by. “Because they came out guns blazing and they were so negative at the start, we are having a hard time forgiving them for that,” she said during the appearance.

Her comments come as Meghan shared multiple never-before-seen photos of her and Harry’s wedding to mark the anniversary. Schofield said that while Meghan and Harry have tried to maintain their image, their version of “lovey-dovey philanthropy” no longer resonates with their audience.

The conversation around tone isn’t new. and it traces back to how the couple described their final years as senior working royals. After their 2020 departure from England, Harry and Meghan began speaking out about negative experiences within the family. During their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan addressed conversations she said took place during the months when she was pregnant with Prince Archie. She described being told that Archie “won’t be given security” and “isn’t going to be given a title. ” along with concerns about “how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”.

Meghan also said. “There were several conversations about it. ” and that she believed those talks would be “very damaging to them.” She said the messages were “relayed to me from Harry. ” and that the conversations were reportedly shared with him by his family—adding that it was “really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalized conversations.”.

Even as they criticized the monarchy, the couple continued to use their titles for business purposes, a detail critics say undermines the message. On Sky News, commentator Samara Gill said, “I think she does want the validation, but she also wants to continue to coast off the royal titles.”

Gill went further, describing what she said the royal family has had to watch. “I think that’s been one of the most d****** and heartbreaking things for the royal family to have to witness — her secretly using some of the titles in letter headings and then them finding out about it. she noted.” She added. “She’s obsessed with the royal family and she’s obsessed with the cash grab that she can make off it.”.

Taken together. the facts on the table sketch a conflict that’s hard to ignore: Harry and Meghan present a polished anniversary moment through wedding photos. while commentators argue the public still remembers the early post-royal messaging they described as “guns blazing” and “so negative. ” plus the question of how the couple continues to use royal titles even while criticizing the institution.

For now, the couple’s anniversary release is one more flash of imagery meant to sustain their narrative—while critics insist the audience has moved on to judging the story behind the photos.
