Green’s violent retort sparks anger, Warriors face backlash

Draymond Green’s heated reply to a Knicks fan on X—warning he would “crush those dirty a** kids” on the fan’s banner—has triggered immediate online backlash, even as the Warriors gear up for Steve Kerr’s second stint and a crucial summer.
Draymond Green’s Warriors era may be moving into its offseason, but the 2025-26 season isn’t the only thing getting headlines.
On Sunday, the future Hall of Famer took to social media to respond to a New York Knicks fan, and the exchange turned quickly—so quickly that screenshots were already spreading before the moment could fade.
The fan, @hanahoops, taunted Green with: “COME OUTSIDE B****.” The comment was widely framed as a jab at Green’s appearance on Saturday’s edition of “Inside the NBA,” which came before Game 3 of the Knicks’ series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Green’s reply escalated. He wrote: “Watch your mouth before I crush those dirty a** kids in your banner.” The reference was to the small children shown on the user’s profile page.
For many observers, it wasn’t just the content—it was the feel of it. Some users wondered if Green had been hacked. though the minutes leading up to the viral exchange showed Green responding to other fans on X with more toned-down comments. Still, by the time the threat hit timelines, the damage had already been done.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Green later removed the post. But even if the original message disappears, the internet rarely forgets a screenshot.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether the Warriors or the league office will comment on the threat, joking tone or not.
What does come with clarity is that Golden State’s offseason has been busy even without social-media turbulence. The Warriors recently brought Steve Kerr back as head coach on a new two-year deal. and they’re looking to use their assets— including a lottery pick in the upcoming draft— to make the most of the twilight years of Draymond Green and Stephen Curry’s career.
That backdrop makes the stakes of Sunday’s outburst feel sharper for the team. With summer approaching. the Warriors will be hoping Green can keep the distractions off the court to a minimum—because this one didn’t just spark a debate. It put him in the middle of a much bigger fight than any opponent matchup.

He should get suspended for that. Like come on.
Is this the “Kids in the banner” thing? That’s wild. Also why is he even responding to some random fan like that, just ignore it.
Maybe he got hacked tbh because I’ve seen him tweet normally before, like not crazy. But then again the internet is showing screenshots so… idk. If Warriors fans are already mad about Kerr getting rehired then this just pours gasoline on it.
Draymond been doing all this “warrior mentality” stuff for years, and now it’s about violence threats on X? I mean it’s probably just him being dumb, but saying he’ll “crush” kids in a banner is still a lawsuit waiting to happen. Meanwhile Steve Kerr back for 2 years and Curry and all that… they’re cooked if this keeps going.
