The Packers respond after Josh Jacobs was charged with misdemeanor battery and property damage stemming from a domestic incident.
The Green Bay Packers have released a statement following Josh Jacobs being charged with two misdemeanors on Thursday. The Packers running back was charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property, per Wisconsin court records obtained by ESPN.
Rob Demovsky obtained a statement from the Packers and also confirmed that the team will not be releasing him at this time.
“We are aware of the charges brought against Josh Jacobs. We will continue to cooperate with the NFL as we work through the process. We will have no further comment at this time.”
The charges come after he was arrested for a domestic violence incident at his residence near Green Bay. Per information obtained by ESPN, Jacobs’ girlfriend said that he engaged in a physical struggle with her after she looked through his phone and saw him conversing with other women. The complaint alleges that Jacobs grabbed her and threw her to the ground, where she ultimately struck her head, and that police officers saw redness on her face and felt a bump in the back of her head.
Jacobs’ lawyers David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence F. Duchac III released a statement regarding the charges per ESPN.
“The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence. The allegations will be addressed in court, and not in the media. Mr. Jacobs respects the District Attorney’s office and the process it followed.
He is scheduled for a court appearance on November 17th.
