Green Bay Packers Defeat Dallas Cowboys 23-13 Following Scoreless First Half

The Dallas Cowboys found themselves unable to recover from a stagnant, scoreless first half on Sunday night, ultimately falling 23-13 to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The loss dropped the Cowboys’ record to 2-4 on the season, while the Packers improved to 4-2.
Green Bay capitalized on early Dallas miscues to take a 17-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Packers opened the scoring in the first quarter with a touchdown, then expanded their advantage in the second quarter with a field goal followed by another touchdown. The Dallas offense struggled significantly during the opening two quarters against a disciplined Packers defense that had entered the matchup with seven interceptions on the year. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions in the first half as the team failed to sustain drives, managing a mere 48 total yards before intermission and remaining shut out until the third quarter.
Dallas finally broke onto the scoreboard in the third quarter when running back Javonte Williams punched in a 1-yard touchdown run, slicing Green Bay’s lead to 17-7. However, the Packers responded swiftly with a 44-yard field goal off the foot of Trey Smack. Green Bay added another field goal early in the fourth quarter to extend its advantage to 23-7, keeping the visitors at arm’s length.
The Cowboys attempted a late-game comeback when Prescott connected with Flournoy for a 6-yard touchdown pass with just 44 seconds remaining on the clock. Looking to cut the deficit to a single possession, Dallas opted for a two-point conversion, but Prescott’s pass intended for CeeDee Lamb fell incomplete. The Packers subsequently recovered the ensuing onside kick attempt and successfully ran out the remaining time to seal the victory.
Statistical leaders for Dallas included Prescott, who completed 34 passes for 258 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Lamb hauled in nine receptions for 70 yards, George Pickens contributed six catches for 73 yards, and Flournoy paced the receiving corps with seven receptions alongside the team’s sole receiving touchdown. For Green Bay, quarterback Jordan Love completed 23 passes for 276 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception.
Overall, the Packers outgained the Cowboys 318 total yards to 303. Green Bay’s success was largely anchored by its performance on third down, where the team converted 11 of 18 attempts to maintain control of the contest. Following the defeat, the Cowboys return home looking to rebound from consecutive losses.
