Google recruits Gemini App Trusted Testers for early access

Google is opening a limited set of applications for its Gemini App Trusted Tester program, inviting power users to test unreleased Gemini features and share feedback before they reach the public.

Google is quietly looking for a small group of Gemini users who want to help shape what’s next—before the rest of the world gets it.

In a post on X. Josh Woodward. VP of Gemini at Google. announced that the company is opening a limited number of spots in its Gemini App Trusted Tester Program. Woodward said the program is designed for “power users” who enjoy testing new technology and then feeding back what they find on unreleased Gemini app features.

The invitation is simple: apply through a Google Form linked in Woodward’s announcement. The application collects basic details including the user’s name, region, and age. It also asks about the applicant’s profession and how frequently they use AI tools.

Google is also trying to understand how testers use competing assistants. The form asks about applicants’ experience with other AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and others.

What Google hasn’t said is just as important as what it has. The company has not shared how many users it plans to accept. what benefits selected testers will receive. or when invitations will begin rolling out. The program’s design. at least from the details provided. points to one clear goal: gathering feedback from experienced AI users before new Gemini features are released more widely.

Once the form is completed, users will receive a copy of their responses along with additional details at the email address provided. Still, filling it out does not guarantee selection. Google will let applicants know if—and when—their application is accepted.

  1. Why do they need my age and region for an app tester thing?? Feels kinda creepy not gonna lie. Also “power users” like… I don’t wanna be experimented on.

  2. They’re asking how often you use other assistants like ChatGPT and Claude… so it’s like they want to see who’s loyal to who? I bet this means Gemini is gonna copy features from whoever gets picked lol.

  3. “Limited spots” but they didn’t say how many? Classic. It also says you get a copy of your responses—okay great, but is that for privacy or just for receipts. Seems like the benefits are just “trust us bro, you’ll help shape it,” and then you don’t even get it. I tried Gemini once and it was acting weird, so I don’t even get why they’d want testers unless they’re gonna roll out ads or something.
