Google I/O expands Flow into an agent studio

At Google I/O 2026, Google expanded Flow into a broader creative studio with multiple new agents, introduced Omni Flash for better character consistency across video frames, and launched Pics for image creation and editing. Canva also rolled out a Connected Ap
When Google showed Flow at I/O last year, it was a filmmaker-forward video tool. This time, the demo felt like a studio that had grown arms.
Flow has expanded into a fuller creative studio. now backed by several new agents that support different parts of the creative process. In the presentation. Google showed how users can work with Flow Agent as if it were a creative collaborator—asking for recommendations and input on dialogue and plot development. then folding those suggestions back into the work.
The most concrete change in the video side came with Omni Flash. Google said Flow now preserves character consistency across frames. and it made the comparison in terms that are easy to grasp: Omni is positioned as the video counterpart to Nano Banana for images. The message is simple—if characters keep behaving like themselves from shot to shot. creative iteration becomes less of a fight.
On the image front, Google introduced Pics, a new image tool built on Nano Banana. Pics is designed to let users create all-new graphics while also editing existing photos and flyers.
Google wasn’t the only one moving deeper into the creator workflow. Canva launched its Connected App for Gemini, letting users create in Canva from within the Gemini app. The setup is direct: connect Canva to Gemini and start by typing “@Canva.” Google also showed that the integration can use chats as design context.
Canva has already set up similar access for other major chatbots—Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot—and bringing Canva into Gemini slots it into that same ecosystem, with the added twist that Gemini conversations can be repurposed into design work.
