Google ends production of Nest Mini and Nest Audio

Google ends – Google has confirmed that production has stopped for the Nest Mini and Nest Audio. The news lands as pre-orders for the new Google Home Speaker open and the older models had already been showing as “out of stock” on Google’s web store.
A few days ago, the signs were small—just “out of stock” labels on Google’s web store. Today, Google has made it official.
With pre-orders for the new Google Home Speaker opening today—after the product was first announced last year—Google confirmed that its older smart speakers are being retired from the production line. The company says it has ended production of the Google Nest Mini and the Google Nest Audio.
“In keeping with continuing to build the future of the smart home, we are refining our portfolio of Google Home and Nest devices,” Google said. “As part of this evolution, we have ended production of the Google Nest Mini and Google Nest Audio.”
It’s a clean handoff in the lineup. but for owners and fans of the older hardware it lands with a quieter kind of loss. The Nest Mini and Nest Audio had recently started appearing as “out of stock” on Google’s online store. and the timing—right as expectations grew that the Google Home Speaker was about to begin sales—made it hard to ignore where things were headed.
The Nest Audio, even as the second-to-newest model in the lineup behind the forthcoming Home Speaker, is still relatively old. It launched in September of 2020, and now it’s reaching the end of its run.
Google’s timeline for the Nest Mini goes back even further. The Nest Mini first debuted as the Home Mini in 2017, and Google later released a second-gen Nest Mini in 2019.
The sequence is straightforward: older inventory dries up on the web store. pre-orders open for the new Google Home Speaker. and Google closes the loop by ending production for the Nest Mini and Nest Audio. For anyone planning to buy, that matters now—not later. For anyone who already owns one. it raises the practical question that comes with every product retirement: what happens to the devices that are still working perfectly fine at home. but no longer being made.

So they just stop making them and that’s it? Mine still works fine…
I saw “out of stock” and figured it was over, but wow Google really killed the Nest Mini too. Guess I should’ve bought like 5 of them back then lol.
Wait is this why my Nest Audio started glitching? Like they turn it off when they stop producing. I mean not 100% sure but it feels connected.
People act like it’s no big deal but retiring stuff always means support gets weird later. “Refining the portfolio” is corporate talk for “we don’t care what you already bought.” Also the new Home Speaker was supposed to come out any day and now the older ones are gone… convenience, right? I swear they just flush inventory and call it innovation.
