Gilmore Girls leaves Netflix June 30 after 12 years

Netflix announced that Gilmore Girls Seasons 1–7 will stop streaming in the US on June 30 after 12 years on the platform. The show remains available on Hulu and Disney+, while international viewers will still be able to stream it on Netflix. With HBO Max tied

On Monday, Netflix posted a goodbye that felt personal—coffee in hand, small-town nostalgia in the caption—then drew a hard line on the calendar.

Netflix said Gilmore Girls Seasons 1–7 will leave the platform in the US on June 30. ending what it has framed as a long-running relationship with fans who spent years drifting through Stars Hollow. The streamer’s X post opened with a line from the show—“It’s a show?. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a religion. ” quoting memorable season 1 dialogue referring to The Donna Reed Show—and continued: “We are sorry to say that Gilmore Girls Seasons 1-7 will be leaving Netflix in the US on June 30. Raising a cup of coffee to every fan who visited Stars Hollow with us.”.

The message lands with extra weight because the series has been on Netflix for 12 years. Gilmore Girls first arrived on the streaming platform in 2014. after a seven-season run that originally aired on The WB—later under the name The CW. And nearly two decades after the show wrapped on TV. 12 years after it found its seemingly stable Netflix home. the familiar world of Lorelai and Rory is about to move again.

Netflix also launched the revival miniseries, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, 10 years ago. That revival is still available to stream on Hulu and Disney+. and while Netflix has been the only place to stream both the original series and the follow-up over all these years. Hulu only picked up the series for streaming in 2024.

For many viewers, the loss won’t just be about where they watch—it will be about timing. Netflix has said the show will leave in the US on June 30, and the post effectively seals the question of “when” for longtime binge watchers.

Even as Netflix prepares the exit, other screens are already holding the door open. The seven-season series is still available to stream on Hulu and Disney+. Disney+ is also listed as a place viewers can continue watching.

Outside the US, the situation is different. Netflix told What’s on Netflix that international subscribers will still be able to watch Gilmore Girls on Netflix.

The announcement follows a wave of speculation that began last week. Third-party Netflix tracking sites like Unogs and NewonNetflix.info reported that Gilmore Girls’ final date to stream was listed as July 1, 2026.

And behind the scenes, questions are now turning toward the next stop.

Gilmore Girls was produced by Warner Bros. Television, and WBTV’s streaming home is HBO Max, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. So far. there’s no indication that Gilmore Girls will join the HBO Max lineup—but the revival miniseries. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. was a co-production of Netflix and WBTV. which keeps the door to future movement ajar.

For now. Netflix has made the departure date clear. while the destination remains fuzzy—an uncomfortable kind of cliffhanger for a show built on forward motion and last-minute decisions. Nearly 20 years after it first wrapped its TV run. the series is leaving Netflix again. and this time. the next landing spot isn’t guaranteed.
