General Hospital’s Absolutely Stunning Ethan Recast Just Came Out of Nowhere
It’s not often that a soap completely blindsides us out of nowhere, but General Hospital did just that on Monday when we hit Ethan’s scenes with Ava only to learn that he had been recast. The scene began, the show announced over it that “Ethan Lovett is now being played by Christian Howard” and that was it.
There’ve been rumors Nathan Dean was out since folks noticed last week that he no longer appeared in the closing credits. But that seemed odd, especially since Ethan was in so many of the spoilers for this week. But we suppose the recast is how both things could be true. Even more telling, Howard wasn’t announced as “temporarily” playing Ethan. It seems like he’s it, now, for the character.
And we can not imagine a more jarring way to introduce someone to the audience. For that reason, we really want to caution viewers to not be hard on the poor guy. We don’t know what happened or why, but the man was brought in to to play a role and that’s what he’s doing.
Howard’s appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including as Ken Master in the Street Fighter TV and mini series franchise, for any gamer fans out there.

As for where Ethan’s going now, that’s anybody’s guess. His and Ava’s chemistry has been off the charts, and there’s still all that mystery around Phoebe’s paternity. In fact, that’s why he was visiting Ava on Monday’s episode. He wanted to reiterate that Phoebe’s dad was bad news, and the fewer people who knew about him, the better.
With that said, we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more. Right now, about all we do know is that Dean is out and so, too, apparently is Ethan’s accent!
